Goldfish Mari Organic Texturing Tutorial (w/ Free Model)

Following on from the ZBrush sculpting of these fish in my last video I decided to do a quick 2 day texture and lookdev. Using Mari I got some okay results given the timeframe and recorded the whole process along the way. Rather than explain every node I use I will explain my general process of what I'm doing. If you do have any specific questions leave them in the comments!

This video is that sped up footage with me talking over it explaining what I'm doing, my process and more.  While I touch on the Arnold side of the lookdev I am thinking of doing a separate video setting up a lookdev and render scene from scratch for these guys. Texturing Theory 101 - Tutorial - Maps and Channels!

This video is for people that are fairly new to texturing or want a refresher on what certain channels and map do for an object. From the very basics of looking at texture reference we go through every single channel you usually come across, what those maps usually look like and how to create them yourself. 


If your a beginner when it comes to texture or just want a refresher then this video is for you. Texturing can be quite a complex subject so I try and break it down as simply as possible into the basics of the theory behind it.

Meet Mat 2 Texturing Tutorial - Pt. 1 - Substance Painter

Oh boy, it's a long one! Recently Allegorithmic held a texturing contest called Meet Mat 2 and I thought that was a great opportunity to jump back into Substance Painter 2019 and Substance Designer. In this video we recreate my original textures, which took 2 days, from scratch in a much shorter time. Along the way we will cover new Substance Painter 2019 features like proper displacement and realtime Subsurface Scattering in the shaders. In this first part of two we create the base ceramic material and the gold.
